Why We Started

We knew where
the good ones went.

VaultShades started with a group of runners who couldn't justify $400 for sunglasses — but wouldn't wear anything else. We knew what Oakleys did for performance, and we knew what they did to a bank account.

We knew where the unworn pairs went. Bulk auctions. Retailer returns. Estate lots from collectors who upgraded and never wore the old ones. Pairs that had barely seen the sun, sitting in boxes waiting for someone who'd actually wear them. So we started buying.

The vault doesn't
hold things twice.

We don't manufacture. We recover. When a colourway sells out, it doesn't come back. We can't manufacture more pre-loved pairs of an exact colourway and condition — that's the whole point. If you see it and want it, take it.

Authenticated

Verified against Oakley markings, lens etchings, serials, and supplier records.

Inspected

Lens clarity, scratch depth, polarisation function, frame integrity, hinge tension, nose pad condition. The bar is would we wear this.

Vaulted

Limited drops. No restocks. Sold out stays sold out. Other models, other colourways, future drops — yes. The same pair, never again.

Graded honestly

Grade A — Excellent. Indistinguishable from new. Grade B — Good. Minor cosmetic marks on frame, lenses optically perfect. No Grade C.
